Govendo accepted the plea deal and Ogumoro’s guilty plea.

Govendo sentenced the defendant to six months imprisonment, all suspended except for two days.

Govendo gave Ogumoro credit for two days of time served.

It means that the defendant will no longer serve more prison term.

Ogumoro was placed on supervised probation for one year. He was required to pay $100 in probation fee and $25 in court costs. He was ordered to complete 40 hours of counseling with a focus on anger management.

Assistant attorney general Barbara Cepeda moved to dismiss the remaining charge of assault and battery as part of the plea deal. The judge granted the motion.

According to the factual basis of the plea agreement, Ogumoro swung the cover of a trashcan at his wife and struck her in the face, causing her to become upset on Feb. 29, 2016.

Assistant public defender Michael Sato served as counsel for Ogumoro.

Police Detective Daniel Maliuyaf stated in his report that a police officer was dispatched to the Aging Office last Feb. 29 after receiving a call about a disturbance.

Before the officer arrived at the scene, Ogumoro and his wife, who is also a volunteer at the Aging Office, already left the area.

Based on the officer’s review on the video surveillance footage, Ogumoro was standing at a table and writing something on a paper.

Ogumoro later picked up a cover of a trashcan near the front entrance door and attempted to swing it at his wife.

Ogumoro instead used his left hand in slapping the face of his wife. He walked out of the front door but the wife stood at the door.

The defendant splashed what appeared to be a cup of water on his wife’s face.

A witness told the officer that prior to the incident, the wife asked Ogumoro why he didn’t answer his phone and later asked who was going to take him.

[4
4249,10391,1010,1609
post-231202","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-aging-office","tag-anthony-jack-ogumoro","tag-barbara-cepeda","tag-michael-sato
["GET
