Due to former principal Bobby Winkfield\u2019s retirement in June, SCS appointed Dunn to oversee planning and preparation at the school to ensure continuity and excellence in providing a high-quality education to its students from Day 1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmanda has all the qualities we\u2019re looking for in a principal\u2014infectious energy, enthusiasm for learning, and a real ability to inspire students and the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDunn is the best candidate to lead Saipan Community School with tremendous credentials, who I know will work collaboratively with all stakeholders,\u201d said Saipan Community School board chair Russ Quinn.<\/p>\n<p>Dunn taught at Saipan Community School for three years as an English as a Second Language (ESL) and Computer Teacher. Since leaving the school, Dunn has worked at Northern Marianas College in several capacities including: adjunct instructor, distance learning coordinator, director of distance learning education, and accreditation liaison officer and in 2014 received the NMC Supervisor of the Year Award. <\/p>\n<p>Dunn is originally from Albion, Illinois and has lived in Saipan for nearly nine years with prior experience internationally in Bremen, Germany where she was an English as a Foreign Language teacher. She is a proud graduate of Oakland City University where she received her undergrad and Masters in Science Management. She is married to Trey Dunn, a Fisheries biologist at the Department of Fish and Wildlife, and they have a beautiful 4-month old son, Liam Otto Dunn.<\/p>\n<p>Dunn said, \u201cI cannot express how blessed, excited, and honored I am to be returning to SCS in this role. I have big shoes to fill both figuratively and literally. It is my prayer that God will guide us in this upcoming school year and give me the knowledge to be a wise leader. Saipan Community School is a private Christian school that was established in 1976 as the first Protestant school on the island. Saipan Community School is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International and offers a U.S. curriculum taught in English and has been consistently recognized over the years for developing academic excellence and character in a family friendly atmosphere.
