{"id":23132,"date":"2012-07-03T08:03:16","date_gmt":"2012-07-03T08:03:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newspaper.ctsi-logistics.com\/?p=23132"},"modified":"2012-07-03T08:03:16","modified_gmt":"2012-07-03T08:03:16","slug":"844650-in-attorneys-fees-demanded-from-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/844650-in-attorneys-fees-demanded-from-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"$844,650 in attorneys&#8217; fees demanded from Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>A Boston-based law firm that represented the NMI Retirement Fund in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition is demanding payment of $719,293.50 for professional services and reimbursement of $46,644.32 in expenses, for a total of $765,937.82.<\/div>\n<p>Braddock Huesman, the Saipan-based counsel for the Fund, on the other hand, is demanding $9,201 in attorney&#8217;s fees plus reimbursement in the amount of $2,046 for a total of $11,247.<\/p>\n<p>Colin Thompson, the Saipan-based counsel for the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors, has demanded compensation of $1,960 plus $382.50 in cost expenses, for a total of $2,341.50.<\/p>\n<p>Don Jeffrey Gelber, the Hawii-based counsel for the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors, last week demanded $65,124.61 in compensation from the Fund for his and his law firm&#8217;s participation in the case.<\/p>\n<p>This brings attorneys&#8217; fees and expenses to a total of $844,650.93.<\/p>\n<p>According to Jeremy B. Coffey of the Boston law firm Brown Rudnick LLP, he and other attorneys and paraprofessionals expended a total of 1,590 hours for the case.<\/p>\n<p>Coffey said they actually expended 1,794.60 hours, but as an accommodation to the Fund, the law firm agreed to write off 204.60 hours with a value of $95,418.<\/p>\n<p>Coffey listed 10 lawyers, including himself, and two paralegals that incurred the $704,293.50 in attorneys&#8217; fees.<\/p>\n<p>Coffey&#8217;s fee reached $117,895, while the biggest fee among the 10 lawyers in the law firm was by attorney Timothy J.
