Torres says 16 lawyers interested on judge\u2019s position"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sixteen lawyers are interested to fill up the vacant judge\u2019s position in the Superior Court, according to Gov. Ralph DLG Torres. <\/p>\n<p>In an interview, Torres disclosed that hopefully he should come out with a nominee within a month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re continuing to look for interested candidates and I continue to talk to more interested potential nominees,\u201d the governor said.<\/p>\n<p>Torres revealed that 16 lawyers expressed interest, including those who are currently off-island but previously worked in the Commonwealth. <\/p>\n<p>He said a couple of lawyers from Tinian are interested too, but have not officially informed him about their intent to serve.<\/p>\n<p>Torres said he is looking at a lawyer who has vast experience and has ability to treat case with impartiality, among other characters of a good judge.<\/p>\n<p>Asked if his brothers and sister are among the interested lawyers, the beaming Torres said his lawyer siblings are not on the list.<\/p>\n<p>The governor\u2019s four siblings\u2014Joaquin, Judy, Victorino, and Vincent\u2014are currently working in their law firm Torres Brothers LLC.<\/p>\n<p>An associate judge\u2019s position has been vacant when David A.
