The Northern Marianas Humanities Council is soliciting nominations for the 2016 Governor\u2019s Humanities Awards.<\/p>\n
This event, held annually in October as a part of CNMI Humanities Month, recognizes outstanding contributions to the humanities by individuals and organizations in the community.<\/p>\n
Nominees should have a notable humanities achievement in the past year, as demonstrated in any of the following four categories: <\/p>\n
\u2022 Research and Publication in the Humanities;
\n\u2022 Preservation of Traditional Cultural Practices;
\n\u2022 Preservation of CNMI History;
\n\u2022 Outstanding Humanities Teacher (in both classroom and non-classroom settings).
\n\u2022 A fifth category, Lifetime Achievement, recognizes significant contributions to the humanities over multiple decades. This award may be given posthumously.<\/p>\n
Download the nomination form and instructions at the council\u2019s website (http:\/\/northernmarianashumanities.org\/sec.asp?secID=46). They may also be picked up at the council\u2019s office in the Springs Plaza Building, Gualo Rai.<\/p>\n
Nominations are due no later than 4:30pm on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016. <\/p>\n
Awards will be presented during the Governor\u2019s Humanities Awards which will be held in conjuction with the Council\u2019s 25th Anniversary Dinner\/Fundraiser on the evening of Friday, Oct. 28, 2016 at the Pacific Islands Club.<\/p>\n
