{"id":233010,"date":"2016-07-26T06:00:29","date_gmt":"2016-07-25T20:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=233010"},"modified":"2016-07-26T06:00:29","modified_gmt":"2016-07-25T20:00:29","slug":"community-briefs-july-26-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/community-briefs-july-26-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Briefs &#8211; July 26, 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>One Guam Water Integration ribbon-cutting ceremony this Thursday<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>ASAN, Guam<\/strong>\u2014Joint Region Marianas (JRM) and Guam Waterworks Authority (GWA) will be hosting a One Guam Water Integration ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Tumon Maui Well in Upper Tumon, Thursday, July 28 from 10am to 11:30am. <\/p>\n<p>The ceremony signifies the official reopening and leasing of the Navy\u2019s Tumon Maui Well to GWA and affirms the Navy\u2019s commitment to the One Guam pillar. <\/p>\n<p>The well is a Maui-type water well that operates to skim underground fresh water from the thin basal layer.  The well was constructed in 1947 and it accounted for a large portion of the water supply until its initial closure in 1995.
