A 3-year-old boy and a 61-year-old woman nearly drowned at two hotels on Saipan on Wednesday night. <\/p>\n
Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesman Derek Gersonde said that as of yesterday that they have no information regarding the two victims\u2019 condition.<\/p>\n
Gersonde said they received a call from the Department of Public Safety\u2019s 911 dispatch on Wednesday at 6:05pm about a near drowning incident at the Saipan World Resort.<\/p>\n
Gersonde said medics from Koblerville and Susupe Fire Stations immediately responded and came upon a 3-year-old Chinese boy complaining of stomach pain. <\/p>\n
The hotel\u2019s lifeguards stated that the boy was found underwater in the pool area.<\/p>\n
Upon rescue, the lifeguard found the boy\u2019s face had blue pigmentation and was unresponsive. Lifeguards then performed one set of cardio pulmonary resuscitation, causing the boy to regain consciousness, but with a low oxygen reading.<\/p>\n
Gersonde said the boy was given oxygen and rushed to the Commonwealth Health Center\u2019s emergency room.<\/p>\n
In the second incident, DFEMS received a call Wednesday at 6:10pm from DPS 911 dispatch about a near drowning case at the Kanoa Resort.<\/p>\n
Medics from Garapan and Susupe Fire Stations responded and came upon a 61-year-old Chinese woman who was conscious but unresponsive.<\/p>\n
The hotel\u2019s lifeguard supervisor stated that the woman was floating near the shore.<\/p>\n
Upon rescue, the woman was found without a pulse and her face had blue pigmentation and she had foamy discharge from her mouth.<\/p>\n
Lifeguards performed three sets of CPR, causing the victim to have a pulse. She was then assisted with rescue breathing.<\/p>\n
The victim had a low oxygen reading. She was given oxygen and rushed to CHC\u2019s emergency room.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
