A suspected supplier of methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d who was arrested last June but was later released after he agreed to serve as an informant with law enforcement, was re-arrested and brought before the Superior Court yesterday for bail hearing. <\/p>\n
Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio imposed a $100,000 cash bail on Joseph T. White, also known as Dims, for two counts of trafficking of controlled substance and two counts of illegal possession of controlled substance.<\/p>\n
Kim-Tenorio set the preliminary hearing for Aug. 15 at 9am.<\/p>\n
Assistant public defender Cindy Nesbit was appointed as counsel for the 25-year-old White. Assistant attorney general Jonathan Robert Glass Jr. appeared as counsel for the government.<\/p>\n
Assistant attorney general Chester Hinds on Monday filed a motion to unseal documents in White\u2019s case and a motion to revoke the stipulation for release of defendant from custody.<\/p>\n
Drug Enforcement Task Force agents arrested White last June 3 after their \u201ccooperating defendant\u201d managed to purchase 0.6 gross grams of \u201cice\u201d worth $130 from White in a parking lot of a commercial building in Garapan last April 5, and another \u201ccooperating source\u201d was able to buy 0.9 gross grams of \u201cice\u201d from the defendant in a parking lot of Treasure Island Poker in Garapan later on that same day. <\/p>\n
Hinds said upon being arrested, White requested to assist law enforcement as a cooperating defendant\/informant, provided that DETF would agree to release him without cash subject to certain conditions.<\/p>\n
The government agreed and requested the court that all documents in this case be filed under seal to protect the confidentiality of ongoing drugs investigation.<\/p>\n
The court then granted the motion to seal, as well as the release of White subject to some conditions.<\/p>\n
Hinds said however, White, has \u201ccome to an end\u201d with law enforcement in ongoing investigations.<\/p>\n
Thus, Hinds said, there is no need to continue keeping under seal all documents in this case, nor should White be permitted to remain on release on own recognizance.<\/p>\n
Hinds recommended a $100,000 cash bail on White. <\/p>\n
