{"id":233996,"date":"2016-08-10T06:00:45","date_gmt":"2016-08-09T20:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=233996"},"modified":"2016-08-10T06:00:45","modified_gmt":"2016-08-09T20:00:45","slug":"22-set-receive-hospitality-specialty-course-certification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/22-set-receive-hospitality-specialty-course-certification\/","title":{"rendered":"22 set to receive hospitality specialty course certification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Summer 2016 cohort of the American Hotel &amp; Lodging Educational Institute\u2019s Hospitality Specialty Course\u2019s certification and pin ceremony will be held on Aug. 16, 2016 at Kanoa Resort\u2019s Seaside Hall.<\/p>\n<p>According to Maureen E. Sebangiol, Island Training Solutions administrator, \u201cThis internship program is offered by the Department of Commerce to local workers who are currently working in the hotel industry and who want to hone their skills and give them an opportunity for career advancement in the future. The internship lasted for three weeks, and was held in participants&#8217; current workplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A total of 22 graduates will receive their globally recognized certification in one of the three areas of resort\/hotel operations: food server, guest room attendant, and front desk attendant.<\/p>\n<p>The AHLEI certification course is provided in cooperation with the CNMI Public School System and the Latte Training Academy. Students, juniors or seniors, who completed the AHLEI program and received the globally recognized certification that could secure employment in the hospitality industry.<\/p>\n<p>PSS funds the program where typically students from Kagman High School, Marianas High School, and Saipan Southern High School can be admitted. The program started with 17 students from the three high schools in 2014. <strong>(Joan L.
