Antonio Sablan (Ind-Saipan) has authored a bill to repeal a section of the Saipan casino law that currently prevents lawmakers from the 18th Legislature and their immediate family from being employed by the Saipan casino and its affiliated companies for five years.<\/p>\n<p>House Bill 19-195 repeals this section, or \u201cPersons Ineligible for Employment,\u201d in its entirety.<\/p>\n<p>The Saipan casino law, ushering in Saipan\u2019s new casino industry and licensee Hong Kong-based Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC was passed during the 18th Legislature.<\/p>\n<p>The law currently provides that: \u201cMembers of the 18th CNMI Legislature and their immediate family&#8230;shall not be paid or receive any financial consideration nor shall they be retained as independent contractors or employed directly or indirectly by any casino licensed under this chapter in its current from or as amended, or by said casino\u2019s affiliates or agents, for a period of five years beginning from the date of the issuance of the said casino\u2019s license.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
