(Walter Sutherland)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/imgupload\/issx9999ns120257.jpg\" width=\"100\" height=\"85\" border=\"0\" \/>\u00a0 After the CNMI Athletics Team and Mieko Carey, it was the Commonwealth&#8217;s youth sluggers&#8217; turn to compete in off-island tournaments last week.<\/p>\n<p>The CNMI Major All-Stars left for Chinese-Taipei for the 2012 Asia Pacific Regional Tournament, the Junior All-Stars went to Vietnam, and the Senior and Big League bets traveled to Guam.<\/p>\n<p>The Junior All-Stars made it to the finals and was scheduled to face defending champion Chinese-Taipei in the finale last Friday. The Major All-Stars are out of the running, while their Seniors counterparts are undefeated as of last Friday and are likely to advance to the semifinals. The Big League All-Stars are still in the hunt against Guam and the Philippines. The ASPAC in Guam will conclude tonight.<\/p>\n<p>In local events, teams scrambled for playoff seats in the various basketball leagues.<\/p>\n<p>In the DLX\/DL JOS caging, Team Pogi, Mawati, Irish Spring, and Marianas Water notched the four playoff berths in Pool A, while Brabu Gualo Rai and Banahaw joined Pool B Top 2 placers KFC\/Taco Bell and the Fastbreakers to the next round.<\/p>\n<p>In the Blue Haus caging, the quarterfinals cast was completed last week with the Hip Hop Thunder, Mobil, Ashley&#8217;s and Wanted Sponsor joining the company of earlier qualifiers DLX, NVM, Loving Hands Day Care, and QQ Rent A Car.<\/p>\n<p>In the UFO league, MDX\/Armatech and Bayani\/LBT Appraisal gained semis tickets in the Masters Budweiser Cup, while DYS\/Bayani and MDX\/Mariana Resort also won Final Four berths in the U20 division of the Docomo Pacific Cup.<\/p>\n<p>In futsal, Wild Bill&#8217;s swept the first round of the men&#8217;s division of the 2012 SSS Summer Futsal League at the TSL Sports Complex in Gualo Rai. In the women&#8217;s division, Shirley&#8217;s is on top with a 3-0-1 win-draw-loss card, while Astig and IT&amp;E are tied for the lead in the boys U18 with their identical 2-0-0 slate as of last Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>There was also a tie for first place in the women&#8217;s division of the Chamolinian softball league after Sakudi topped Check-It-Out in last Monday&#8217;s game at the Capital Hill Ballfield, 12-8.
