The Northern Yankees and the Tan Holdings Brewers are in a deadlock for the lead with their similar 6-1 slates, while the IP&E Shell Fielders (3-5) and Masters (1-6) complete the field.

The Angels scored 12 of their 13 runs off the D-9ers throwing and fielding miscues to win the first match played this month after the league took a break for about two weeks.

Both teams showed rust early on after a two-week absence, as neither squad managed to score a single run.

The Angels then broke their silence with a four-run top of the third. Three runs were made off errors, while the fourth was courtesy of an RBI double from John Reyes. Another four-run top of the fourth upped the Angels lead to 8-0. Reyes knocked another RBI double, which Niko Martin duplicated, while the two others were posted off errors.

The D-9ers continued to struggle on defense, as the Angels last seven runs were made off the former’s miscues.

On offense, the D-9ers had its best chance to score at the bottom of the second inning when E.J. Tenorio reached third base. Actually, the D-9ers had runners on corners with two outs, but they were left stranded as Angels starting pitcher Peter Tenorio struck out Ton Castro.

The D-9ers loaded the bases anew at the bottom of the sixth with two outs, but again the Angels held their ground on defense with second baseman Nick Cruz catching a fly ball from Isaiah Lizama.

In the last inning, the D-9ers’ chances of extending the game were doomed when they went 1-2-3. Leadoff batter Ben Lizama was tagged out at first and Lawrence Dikito and Chad Atalig flied out.

By Roselyn Monroyo
Reporter

[5
143,278,133
post-23676","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-sports","tag-ball","tag-rbi","tag-run
["GET
