A man allegedly choked and repeatedly punched his neighbor over a clogged drainage in their shower room in central Garapan on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The victim sustained bruises and dried blood under the left eye. He suffered bruises on the forehead and under the right eye, police said.<\/p>\n
Mohammad Parvez Barpery, 46, an employee of a recycling center, was arrested for assault and battery and disturbing the peace. His bail was set at $5,000 cash; preliminary hearing is on Oct. 12 at 9am.<\/p>\n
Assistant public defender Cindy Nesbit was appointed as counsel for the defendant. Assistant attorney general Barbara Cepeda appeared for the government.<\/p>\n
Police detective John Anthony Hofschneider stated in his report that two police officers were dispatched to a residence in central Garapan on Saturday afternoon after the victim called for police\u2019s help.<\/p>\n
Barpery allegedly strangled the victim then punched him many times in the face. Barpery only stopped the beating when his wife and brother-in-law pacified him.<\/p>\n
The victim locked his bedroom and called the police. Two officers arrived and arrested the suspect.<\/p>\n
In May 2014, a Superior Court jury acquitted Barpery of charges that he raped a 17-year-old girl in front of his girlfriend inside a motel in San Jose in 2013. <\/p>\n
Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph Camacho, who presided over the trial and decided on the misdemeanor charge, also found Barpery not guilty of disturbing the peace.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
