The glasses varied from grades +0.75 to +4.0 and were distributed by Lions Club members. <\/p>\n<p>Attending the event were Saipan Fil-American Lions Club president Annamae Adaza, Lions Club zone chair Mario Mayuga, Lions Club regional chair Ladyvir Canape, Office on Aging director Walter Manglona, and Man\u2019amko Council president Rita Reyes.<\/p>\n<p>Adaza said: \u201cIt feels good to be a part of an organization that\u2019s really worldwide in terms of community service. For us, we\u2019re just trying to help the CNMI in our own little ways. As our motto says: \u2018We serve\u2019 so that\u2019s what we\u2019re doing.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Adaza has been a member of the Lions Club for six years now.<\/p>\n<p>Manglona thanked Adaza and her group for the donation of reading glasses. \u201cWe are always blessed and appreciative to have groups in the community\u2026spending their time to come over here and make contributions to our elderly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Manglona has been working with the Office on Aging for over 14 years, about four years as its director. <\/p>\n<p>One man\u2019amko, Maria Salinas, said, \u201cI think it is very generous that they\u2019re [Lions Club] is doing this because, believe it or not, at this age the man\u2019amko really do need reading glasses. They wouldn\u2019t know it, but they do need them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Lions Club was able to distribute 143 reading glasses to the man\u2019amko in the center as well as its staff.
