{"id":238496,"date":"2016-10-14T23:25:59","date_gmt":"2016-10-14T13:25:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=238496"},"modified":"2016-10-14T23:25:59","modified_gmt":"2016-10-14T13:25:59","slug":"breaking-news-michael-jackson-not-guilty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/breaking-news-michael-jackson-not-guilty\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING NEWS: Michael Jackson not guilty!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Superior Court jury rendered a unanimous not guilty verdict late afternoon today, Friday, in the retrial of Michael Anthony Jackson, a 38-year-old man accused of kidnapping and raping a then-15-year-old girl in 2010 on Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>After deliberating in less than two hours, the six jurors reached the verdict finding Jackson not guilty of the charges of kidnapping and sexual assault in the first degree.<\/p>\n<p>The alleged victim testified on Thursday afternoon and resumed her testimony this morning, Friday. <\/p>\n<p>Attorney Charles Reyes Jr. served as the eighth court-appointed counsel for Jackson. It was Reyes\u2019 first trial.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant attorneys general Betsy Weintraub and Shannon Foley represented the government in this case.<\/p>\n<p>Associate Judge Joseph N.
