A joint investigation conducted by the CNMI Drug Enforcement Task Force and Drug Enforcement Administration led to the arrest over the weekend of a suspected trafficker of methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d on Saipan. <\/p>\n
Guang Giu Wu, 37, was arrested for trafficking of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a controlled substance. His bail was set at $100,000 cash; preliminary hearing is on Oct. 25 at 1:30pm.<\/p>\n
Assistant public defender Michael Sato was appointed as counsel for Wu. Assistant attorney general Chester Hinds appeared for the government.<\/p>\n
Task force member George Fleming David stated in his report that they met last Oct. 10 with a confidential defendant, who disclosed that he\/she was able to purchase \u201cice\u201d from Wu several times in the past.<\/p>\n
That same night, David said they arranged a \u201ccontrolled buy operation\u201d against Wu using the confidential defendant.<\/p>\n
David said during the operation, the confidential defendant went to the residence of Wu in Koblerville. Wu came out from his house and then handed a small amount of \u201cice\u201d to the confidential defendant.<\/p>\n
The confidential defendant told Wu that he was not buying $60, but $660. <\/p>\n
Wu went back inside then approached the confidential defendant\u2019s car and handed more \u201cice.\u201d<\/p>\n
David said a field test on the substance involved in the deal was presumptive positive for methamphetamine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
