{"id":238724,"date":"2016-10-19T06:06:28","date_gmt":"2016-10-18T20:06:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=238724"},"modified":"2016-10-19T06:06:28","modified_gmt":"2016-10-18T20:06:28","slug":"suspected-ice-trafficker-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/suspected-ice-trafficker-arrested\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspected \u2018ice\u2019 trafficker arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A joint investigation conducted by the CNMI Drug Enforcement Task Force and Drug Enforcement Administration led to the arrest over the weekend of a suspected trafficker of methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d on Saipan. <\/p>\n<p>Guang Giu Wu, 37, was arrested for trafficking of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a controlled substance. His bail was set at $100,000 cash; preliminary hearing is on Oct. 25 at 1:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant public defender Michael Sato was appointed as counsel for Wu. Assistant attorney general Chester Hinds appeared for the government.<\/p>\n<p>Task force member George Fleming David stated in his report that they met last Oct. 10 with a confidential defendant, who disclosed that he\/she was able to purchase \u201cice\u201d from Wu several times in the past.<\/p>\n<p>That same night, David said they arranged a \u201ccontrolled buy operation\u201d against Wu using the confidential defendant.<\/p>\n<p>David said during the operation, the confidential defendant went to the residence of Wu in Koblerville.
