Ada Gymnasium.

BSI-Blue Eagle hammered Armatech/MDX Radio Club in the second game, 87-70, to quickly recover from its 58-67 loss to Ali’i Blue Haus last Thursday, while 8th Division had a similar double-digit win over Save More/MIFICPA in the curtain-raiser, 87-74.

8th Division, which now has an even 2-2 record, was consistent on its offense, scoring at least 20 points in each of the four quarters, and set up the baker’s dozen winning margin after a strong finish. It nearly doubled up Save More’s output in the fourth period, 23-14, as every 8th Division player who saw action in the final canto contributed to the latter’s cause.

Seven different players scored for 8th Division in the payoff frame with Jerry Diaz leading the way, making 7 of his 11 markers in that period. 8th Division’s 23 points were its second best production in a quarter, as the team tallied 25 in the second and 20 in the first and third cantos.

Save More (1-2) got off to a good start, dropping 23 in the first canto behind the combined 14 points of Elgene Mangali and Sid Quan, but slowed down in the last three periods as the team logged less than 20 markers in each frame.

Jun Tabora top-scored for 8th Division with his 15 points, while Kelvin Fitial also finished in twin digits with his 13. Eight of the nine other 8th Division players who suited up against Save More contributed at least 5 points apiece, while only three Save More standouts consistent hit their shots.

In the second game, BSI-Blue Eagle outgunned the debuting Armatech right from the get-go to establish an early double-digit lead en route to the easy victory.

BSI-Blue Eagle built a 19-6 advantage, behind the 7 points of Andrew Palino. Armatech was held to three field goals in the first quarter and all came from Jun Alipio Jr.

BSI-Blue Eagle never relinquished the driver’s seat from thereon as the team welcomed back Douglas Schmidt and drew a good game from second stringer Manny Duenas. Douglas, who missed their game against Ali’i Blue Haus, had 23 points in his return, while Duenas added 11 off the bench, knocking in three triples.

Schmidt canned five treys with his back-to-back capping BSI-Blue Eagle’s domination of Armatech, which made only two shots from the parking lot.

First Game
8th Division 87— J.
