(Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>During Red Ribbon Week, people and communities unite and take a stand against drugs through the symbol of the red ribbon on Oct. 23-31, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for this year\u2019s Red Ribbon Week: YOLO (You Only Live Once): Be Drug Free.<\/p>\n<p>Before Red Ribbon Week kickoff at Eskuelan San Francisco de Borja, a few students were invited by the Guam Red Ribbon Campaign Committee to take part in an outreach at the Micronesian Mall on Oct. 16. The students\u2019 display depicted the drug problems on Rota and the CNMI.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to thank the Rota Health Center, Rota Department of Public Safety, and the Rota Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services for helping the students with their project for the display,\u201d said board chair and class adviser Edward C. Maratita Jr.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the display, the students performed a song number, I Will D.A.R.E. by Teresa Jennings. The song was written for a popular drug prevention program called Drug Abuse Resistance Education.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cI really appreciate the Luta community living in Guam for showing up at the Micronesian Mall to support the students,\u201d said ESFDB administrator-principal Carmen H. Atalig. <\/p>\n<p>The students also had the opportunity to meet Alicia Limtiaco, U.S. Attorney for the Districts of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.<\/p>\n<p>The students that took part of the Guam Red Ribbon Week Educational Outreach Display are Edward U. Maratita III, Autumn Pasensia T. Hocog, \u00c9clair Marj M. Ladao, Kaitlyn Amber I. Balgoa, Michael Jon T. Cantil, John Kent DLC. Clitar, Auston E. Guiawan, Jeremy John Atalig II, and Marvin Dlc.
