{"id":239775,"date":"2016-11-04T06:06:38","date_gmt":"2016-11-03T20:06:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=239775"},"modified":"2016-11-04T06:06:38","modified_gmt":"2016-11-03T20:06:38","slug":"man-threatened-burn-family-gets-one-year-prison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/man-threatened-burn-family-gets-one-year-prison\/","title":{"rendered":"Man who had threatened to burn  his family gets one year in prison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 41-year-old man accused of burning papers, throwing $250 into a fire, and threatening to burn his family at their home in the Koblerville Turnkey Housing pleaded guilty on Wednesday in the Superior Court and was slapped with a one-year prison term.<\/p>\n<p>Jesse Billy Mailuw Jr., 41, pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace and assault (domestic violence) as part of a plea deal.<\/p>\n<p>Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho sentenced Mailuw to six months each for disturbing the peace and assault. Mailuw will spend a total of one year in prison without the possibility of parole. He was given credit for 205 days of time served. He was ordered to pay $25 in court costs.<\/p>\n<p>The judge directed the CNMI clerk of court to fax or provide a copy of his judgment and order to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security-Immigration and Customs Enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>Mailuw is a citizen of the Federated States of Micronesia.<\/p>\n<p>The Office of the Attorney General originally charged Mailuw with disturbing the peace, assault, and child abuse or neglect.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, assistant attorney general Jonathan Glass Jr., counsel for the government, dropped the charge of child abuse or neglect. <\/p>\n<p>According to police, on April 9, 2016 on Saipan, Mailuw threw burning papers at his wife and their infant son and threatened to burn them.<\/p>\n<p>There were no serious injury and the victim did not require medical assistance.
