In celebration of 28 years of public education, the CNMI Public School System proclaimed November as Education Month and Nov. 23 as Education Day last Nov. 4 at the Pacific Islands Club annex.<\/p>\n
Serving as the state education agency for elementary and secondary programs for 6- to 16-year-old students, PSS believes that creating an academic and emotionally nurturing environment, which offers equal educational opportunity, is essential for the development of a student\u2019s character and skill.<\/p>\n
Acting PSS commissioner Glenn Muna said that Education Day would differ slightly among the main islands of the CNMI. \u201cFor Education Day, we have three days for Saipan, Rota, and Tinian,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Saipan celebration will occur on Nov. 23, the one on Rota will take place on Nov. 21, and the one on Tinian will occur on Nov. 22.<\/p>\n
According to Muna, the month\u2019s theme was an idea offered by Abrosio Alubia, a sixth grader from Rota, while the logo for the month is an idea from Kazmy Porras, an eighth grader from Saipan.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe winning theme is from Rota\u2019s Sinapalo Elementary School\u2019s Abrosio Alubia, which is \u201cPlant the seeds of knowledge, harvest the fruit of success.\u201d Our winning logo came from Dandan Middle School\u2019s Kazmy Porras. We have a calendar of events throughout the month highlighting and celebrating public education,\u201d said Muna.<\/p>\n
Their prizes included a plaque and gift bags. Their designs will also be recognized as the official symbol and theme of the month, to be published in shirts and banners.<\/p>\n
Muna invites the public to a celebration of 28 years of serving the youth through public education.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year we are celebrating 28 years as a public education institution. Our culminating event will be held at Koblerville Elementary School on Nov. 23, so that\u2019s where all the PSS staff would come together and have a final celebration and Thanksgiving,\u201d said Muna.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
