{"id":239964,"date":"2016-11-08T06:06:01","date_gmt":"2016-11-07T20:06:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=239964"},"modified":"2016-11-08T06:06:01","modified_gmt":"2016-11-07T20:06:01","slug":"10-students-prepare-upcoming-japan-trip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/10-students-prepare-upcoming-japan-trip\/","title":{"rendered":"10 students prepare for upcoming Japan trip"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Saipan Mayor Office, in conjunction with Kokusai Seishonen Kenshu Kyokai, has organized its 33rd study trip to Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Students, all mixed in terms of age, gender, and schools, will depart for Narita airport on Nov. 9 and return to Saipan on Nov. 15. Participants will be able to live with their host families, visit the Ueno Zoo, and have a trip to Tokyo Disneyland\u2014maintaining pleasant ties with the Japanese community as well as promoting the island of Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>Yuki Kishimoto, student exchange program coordinator, said, \u201cWe want the students of Saipan to experience distant cultures and offer both Japan and Saipan students [a chance] to share a mutual understanding of one another.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents are expected to make new friends as well as long-term relationships with the residents of Japan. The trip also promotes our island, thanks to the students doing a cultural\/traditional presentation during the farewell party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Luise Villagomez, Saipan Mayor&#8217;s Office staff, said, \u201cThe goal of the trip is to also keep relationship ties with Japan and Saipan going and promote overall goodwill. The students, in a sense, are basically heading there as friendship ambassadors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Students participating in the study trip to Japan are Hannah Tenorio and Zared Nekaifes, two fifth graders from Gregorio T.
