And to acknowledge, remember, and also to show appreciation to everyone that is a veteran,” he said.

Torres said the government prioritizes the needs of veterans.

“I wanted to thank you for all of the services you guys have done. I know that we have some issues on our liability of clinics here, and I know that this is because of our population here. Even Guam is having a difficult time having a clinic for our veterans, but even a simple care we are working with the Veteran’s Affairs Office as well as the substance abuse and prevention to provide at least some sort of services when our veterans need them. Whether it be psychiatrists, counseling, or simply other needs. We acknowledge those. The lieutenant governor and I are working to meet those minimal care for our veterans and I want to say thank you again for all your services,” he said.

Torres called upon the community to help support those that protect the country with their lives.

Hocog took the opportunity to extend his utmost respect toward veterans.

“The governor and I and our families extend our sincere and utmost respect to each one of you and salute you for that ultimate sacrifice. Your determination to join the armed forces is to ensure the protection of our country, our democracy, and each and everybody’s livelihood, and that is not an easy thing to do,” said Hocog.

An event in honor of the veterans will be hosted on Veterans Day this Friday, Nov. 11, at the American Memorial Park with the focus for this year being Vietnam War veterans.

Gov.
