{"id":240546,"date":"2016-11-15T06:06:57","date_gmt":"2016-11-14T20:06:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=240546"},"modified":"2016-11-15T06:06:57","modified_gmt":"2016-11-14T20:06:57","slug":"shrm-meeting-focus-holiday-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/shrm-meeting-focus-holiday-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"SHRM meeting to focus on holiday issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management will be holding a membership meeting tomorrow,\u00a0Nov. 16, 2016, from 11:30am to 1:30pm at the Pacific Islands Club\u2019s Charley\u2019s.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All members of the community are invited to attend. <\/p>\n<p>The November meeting will offer a special opportunity to members to hear from one of the chapter\u2019s founding members, Marcia K. Schultz, and from Catherine Cachero, of the law firm Marianas Legal Strategy Group, LLC.<\/p>\n<p>Schultz is partner of Marianas Legal Strategy Group, LLC. She has over 30 years\u2019 experience advising employers in the CNMI about employment law, discrimination, investigations, and formulating policies.\u00a0 She has been a member of Employers\u2019 Council, the Employment Law Alliance, and a continuing member of the CNMI SHRM Chapter since helping to start it in 1996.<\/p>\n<p>Cachero has handled a variety of employment law and employment discrimination matters, including assisting employers in responding to charges of discrimination and Title VII claims filed with the EEOC and in federal court. She also advises business owners and managers on daily operations and policy issues, including those with respect to compliance with federal and local laws, and drafting personnel policies and procedures.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They will be presenting on the topic \u201cHoliday legal issues.\u201d Their presentation will explore the Bermuda triangle of the holiday party, religious discrimination, holiday pay and time off, and will provide numerous tips to help employers and human resource managers navigate the pitfalls of the holiday season. Schultz and Cachero will provide an opportunity for questions, so come with any concerns you might have about holiday issues.<\/p>\n<p>As the local chapter of the world\u2019s largest organization for human resource practitioners, the CNMI SHRM holds monthly meetings on topics that will assist the commonwealth\u2019s HR and management community in keeping abreast of current HR practices and employment law requirements, as well as providing them training on relevant human resource topics. The CNMI chapter has been active since 1996.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow\u2019s meeting is a lunch presentation.
