Members of the CNMI Drug Enforcement Task Force and Drug Enforcement Administration arrested on Tuesday afternoon a suspected distributor of methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d in Gualo Rai.<\/p>\n
Jialiang Chen, 25, also known as Brother, was served with an arrest warrant on two counts of trafficking of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. His bail was set at $100,000 cash; preliminary hearing is on Nov. 20 at 1:30pm. <\/p>\n
Assistant public defender Tillman Clark was appointed as counsel for Chen. Assistant attorney general Betsy Weintraub appeared for the government.<\/p>\n
Task force officer Nicholas Aldan Rabauliman reported that they had been looking into Chen\u2019s reported drug activities.<\/p>\n
Rabauliman said that during a \u201cbuy-walk\u201d operation, a cooperating defendant managed to buy $120 worth of \u201cice\u201d from Chen in a parking lot of a restaurant in Chalan Laulau last Oct. 21.<\/p>\n
The same cooperating defendant was able to buy $240 worth of \u201cice\u201d from Chen in the parking lot of the same restaurant last Nov. 15, Rabauliman said.<\/p>\n
Rabauliman said their test on the seized drugs during the two transactions were presumptive positive for methamphetamine.<\/p>\n
Rabauliman did not indicate in the report if they were able to recover more drugs during their search at Chen\u2019s house in China Town and in his vehicles. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
