A car that was stolen from a rental company was found totally burnt by the landfill in Marpi on Monday morning, according to the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services yesterday. <\/p>\n
DFEMS acting information officer Linus L. Mizutani Jr. said the cause of fire is undetermined and that further investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
Mizutani said the department sent a fire truck and a medic unit from the Garapan Fire Station to Marpi by the landfill for a reported vehicle fire on Monday at 10:50am.<\/p>\n
Arriving some 10 minutes later, fire lieutenant Raymond Borja noted that there was no smoke or fire on the vehicle, Mizutani said. <\/p>\n
A fire investigator then conducted an initial investigation.<\/p>\n
Mizutani said the initial investigation showed that the vehicle was not warm when touched and there were no findings of smoke, fire or smoldering.<\/p>\n
However, Mizutani said, the vehicle was totally burnt.<\/p>\n
\u201cFurther investigation revealed that the vehicle was a car rental and was reported stolen from the car rental lot,\u201d the information officer said.<\/p>\n
The type of vehicle was not indicated in the report.<\/p>\n
Mizutani said the Department of Public Safety should have more information about how the car was stolen. <\/p>\n
