{"id":242320,"date":"2016-12-12T06:06:44","date_gmt":"2016-12-11T20:06:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=242320"},"modified":"2016-12-12T06:06:44","modified_gmt":"2016-12-11T20:06:44","slug":"labor-issue-construction-firm-certificate-good-standing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/labor-issue-construction-firm-certificate-good-standing\/","title":{"rendered":"Labor to issue construction firm certificate of good standing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Labor administrative hearing office has agreed to issue a certificate of good standing to a construction company\u2014provided that it pays a $2,000 fine for failing in the past to post job vacancy announcements for 45 positions.<\/p>\n<p>Labor administrative hearing officer Jerry Cody reversed Labor\u2019s denial of a certificate of good standing for Big Bell Inc., provided that the company complies with his order.<\/p>\n<p>After Big Bell pays the sanction, Labor shall process a certificate of good standing for the company, said Cody in the order on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Cody fined Big Bell $3,000, but suspended $1,000 for two years, then extinguished, provided that the company pays the remaining $2,000 and complies with Labor\u2019s statutes and regulations during that period.<\/p>\n<p>Cody ordered Big Bell to pay the $2,000 portion of the fine no later than 30 days of the date of this order.<\/p>\n<p>Cody reminded Big Bell that it has a continuing obligation to post job vacancy announcements on Labor\u2019s website and to post employer declarations to online job applicants who respond to the posted JVAs.<\/p>\n<p>He said Big Bell also has a continuing obligation to file documents (total workforce listings and workforce plans).<\/p>\n<p>Cody warned that if Big Bell fails to comply with these obligations, Labor may request an order reinstating the suspended sanction, and imposing additional sanctions, after a due process hearing.<\/p>\n<p>He said Big Bell\u2019s failure in the future to comply with Labor regulations may support the denial of an application for a certificate of good standing.<\/p>\n<p>Big Bell operates a construction business on Saipan that currently employs 50 employees and 43 of them are CW-1 status employees. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Labor administrative hearing office has agreed to issue a certificate of good&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":23,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[14674,56,8590],"class_list":["post-242320","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-big-bell-inc","tag-business-3","tag-jerry-cody"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/242320","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/23"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=242320"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/242320\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=242320"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=242320"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=242320"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
