Two persons died and three others were injured during a vehicular accident on Chalan Pale Arnold Road in As Mahetog on Sunday before dawn.<\/p>\n
Department of Public Safety spokesman Jason Tarkong said today, Monday, that the fatalities were a 21-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man, both Chamorros.<\/p>\n
Tarkong said the woman was the driver of a white 2010 Toyota Corolla, while the man was one of her three passengers.<\/p>\n
Tarkong said the two other passengers, a 20-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman, both Chamorros, were injured and taken to the Commonwealth Healthcare Center.<\/p>\n
A 41-year-old Korean man, the driver of a white 2015 Ford Transit 350 XL van, was injured and treated at CHC\u2019s emergency room.<\/p>\n
Tarkong said speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.<\/p>\n
Tarkong said the crash, which was reported to DPS on Sunday at 4:30am, happened on the southbound lane of Chalan Pale Arnold Road in As Mahetog in between the intersection to Saipan Zoo and Saipan Ice Water Co.<\/p>\n
Tarkong said investigation showed that the Toyota Corolla car was traveling north when it lost control and swerved onto oncoming traffic.<\/p>\n
The car crossed the divider and collided with the van, which was traveling south in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n
