The Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office is hosting another trip to Japan for students ranging from Kindergarten to high school seniors. This time, the trip will take place from Feb. 8 to 14.<\/p>\n
Yuki Kishimoto, student exchange program coordinator, said, \u201cThe trip is going to be really cold, since it\u2019s winter. It\u2019ll be a great experience for those who haven\u2019t seen snow yet in their lives. Plus it should provide a big cultural difference as opposed to what they are used to over here.\u201d<\/p>\n
Students can expect to visit places such as Kyoto and Nagano as well as an opportunity to meet with officials such as the Kyoto and Nagano mayors and possibly Kyoto\u2019s governor.<\/p>\n
Luise Villagomez, Saipan Mayor’s Office staff, said, \u201cAll student exchange trips, whether they\u2019re from the mayor\u2019s office or not, offer a really good experience for participants. I\u2019ve actually gone on a trip like this when I was younger. To see a drastic change in Japan is really interesting. These trips also serve as a way to maintain good relations with Japan.\u201d<\/p>\n
There might also be a chance to experience school life with several elementary school children in Japan. Attendees will participate in lectures as well as lunch and other activities.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust like other programs we offer, it is for the purpose of promoting our islands as well as sharing cultures among countries,\u201d Kishimoto said.<\/p>\n
