{"id":242710,"date":"2016-12-16T06:06:41","date_gmt":"2016-12-15T20:06:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=242710"},"modified":"2016-12-16T06:06:41","modified_gmt":"2016-12-15T20:06:41","slug":"mobil-raises-gas-prices-20-cents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/mobil-raises-gas-prices-20-cents\/","title":{"rendered":"Mobil raises gas prices by 20 cents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mobil Oil Marianas Inc. raised its gas prices by 20 cents across the board for the third time in the fourth quarter of 2016<\/p>\n<p>Mobil\u2019s regular gas is now $3.94 a liter, premium is at $4.31, and diesel is at $4.12 as of this week.<\/p>\n<p>Shell Marianas is expected to follow suit.<\/p>\n<p>A taxi driver who was filling up said that he refills his tank usually every three days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor every $60, it goes for about three days. I think it will be about two and a half days now that the prices have gone up,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>During busy days, he expects only a little more than two days for $60 worth of gas.<\/p>\n<p>Prices of gas are always a concern, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t really think that gas price rising is a good thing. It affects everybody. The lower the gas prices, the better for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A driver filling up his 1990 pickup said it usually depends on what kind of car you drive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery two weeks, I fill my car up with $25 gas. I ride an old pickup, to and from work. So it actually depends on the car,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the gas price hike really isn\u2019t an issue for him.<\/p>\n<p>An operator of a boat used for tourists known as a Sea Walker was also not disturbed by the increase in gas prices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s something normal for Saipan\u2014sometimes it goes up, sometimes it goes down. It\u2019s not really a problem.
