The federal court has granted Junior Larry Hillbroom\u2019s request for more time to respond to the motions filed by his two former lawyers that he is suing. <\/p>\n
At a hearing on Tuesday, U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona granted Hillbroom\u2019s motion for more time.<\/p>\n
Hillbroom\u2019s former counsels, David J. Lujan and Barry Israel, have pending motions in connection with Hillbroom\u2019s lawsuit against them.<\/p>\n
The minutes of Tuesday\u2019s hearing showed that Hillbroom\u2019s counsel, Rachel Dimitruk, also discussed the status of Hillbroom\u2019s pending cases in Palau.<\/p>\n
Dimitruk disclosed that Bill Ridpath, the Palau attorney for Hillbroom, provided her with the updates. <\/p>\n
Dimitruk said that Hillbroom\u2019s trial in Palau set for Dec. 19, 2016, was cancelled due to discovery issues.<\/p>\n
A status conference was held Tuesday, Jan. 10, in Palau to set a new trial date.<\/p>\n
Dimitruk said her discussion with Ridpath was that they are willing to put off the criminal case until the civil case in federal court on Saipan is resolved.<\/p>\n
Manglona set a case management conference on Feb. 15 at 10am. The judge also scheduled on that same day and time the hearing on Lujan\u2019s and Israel\u2019s motion to compel depositions of Hillbroom and for order terminating monetary sanctions against Hillbroom.<\/p>\n
Hillbroom is one of the four DNA-proven children of the late business tycoon and DHL co-founder Larry Lee Hillblom. <\/p>\n
