The head of the Commonwealth\u2019s tourism arm is encouraging businesses, government agencies, and volunteer groups to take part in the upkeep of Paseo de Marianas, considered the \u201cheart\u201d of Garapan which is the the business hub of the Northern Marianas. <\/p>\n
Christopher Concepcion, Marianas Visitors Authority\u2019s managing director, also expressed his appreciation to the Corporate Social Responsibility team of Imperial Pacific International, Ltd. following a weeklong cleanup of the pedestrian mall.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe encourage other businesses, especially those at the Paseo de Marianas, government agencies, and volunteer groups to contribute their time and effort to keep this special place clean and tidy,\u201d Concepcion said.<\/p>\n
IPI\u2019s CSR group recently sent a team to the Paseo de Marianas and dedicated the week of Jan. 9 to 13 to cleaning Saipan\u2019s foremost promenade.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe [MVA] is very grateful for the support we\u2019ve received from Imperial Pacific CSR Department, led by executive director Geri C. Dela Cruz,\u201d Concepcion said. \u201c[IPI] offered to help clean and water blast the Paseo de Marianas and we happily accepted their offer.\u201d <\/p>\n
Concepcion noted how encouraging it is to get the support of businesses that step up and support cleanliness and maintenance of the islands\u2019 various sites.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe [Paseo de Marianas] is the heart of Garapan, the main tourist and commercial district,\u201d he said. \u201cWe thank IPI and the PDM Promoters for assisting the MVA when needed.\u201d<\/p>\n
The cleanup is part of MVA\u2019s Beautification Project, an undertaking that involves private businesses and government agencies as partners.<\/p>\n
IPI-CSR\u2019s Dela Cruz said they are ready to assist anytime when needed.<\/p>\n
\u201cPaseo de Marianas is a location that is frequented by tourists and locals in our community. It is important that its maintenance is sustained,\u201d Dela Cruz said.<\/p>\n
She said MVA first approached the IPI-CSR team for the project.<\/p>\n
\u201cIPI-CSR\u2019s contribution to the maintenance of the Paseo de Marianas is a result of a request from [Concepcion].
