CNMI Drug Enforcement Task Force arrested on Thursday night one of suspected main suppliers of methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d in the villages of Chalan Kanoa, San Antonio, and Koblerville. <\/p>\n
Jun Xia, 37, also known as Jun Tragic, was taken before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho on Friday for a bail hearing on charges of trafficking of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a controlled substance. <\/p>\n
Cash bail was set at $100,000; preliminary hearing was held today, Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Assistant public defender Michael Sato was appointed as counsel for Xia. Assistant attorney general Jonathan Glass Jr. appeared for the government.<\/p>\n
Xia, a Chinese male, was first arrested last Jan. 10, 2017, in Susupe for trafficking and illegal possession of \u201cice.\u201d He was released on his own recognizance after offering to serve as a confidential informant but was then re-arrested last Thursday in Koblerville for not cooperating with the police\u2019s ongoing investigations.<\/p>\n
A cooperating defendant told police that he\/she has known Tragic (Xia) in the past three years as an \u201cice\u201d distributor who uses a moped for his deliveries to customers.<\/p>\n
Xia, who lives near Susupe Lake, would also allegedly receive stolen items such as flat screen TVs, jewelry, cellular phones, and portable electronic devices from drug customers in exchange for \u201cice.\u201d<\/p>\n
During two \u201cbuy-walk operation\u201d last Dec. 8 and Dec. 28, the cooperating defendant was able to buy \u201cice\u201d from Xia. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
