{"id":245389,"date":"2017-01-30T06:06:54","date_gmt":"2017-01-29T20:06:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=245389"},"modified":"2017-01-30T06:06:54","modified_gmt":"2017-01-29T20:06:54","slug":"ipi-fed-court-lacks-jurisdiction-ewings-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/ipi-fed-court-lacks-jurisdiction-ewings-claims\/","title":{"rendered":"IPI: Fed court lacks jurisdiction over Ewing\u2019s claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Imperial Pacific International has asserted that the U.S. District Court for the NMI lacks jurisdiction over the claims contained in the lawsuit filed by Danny Ewing, a former Best Sunshine International Ltd.\u2019s casino vice president of table games. <\/p>\n<p>Imperial Pacific, through counsel George Lloyd Hasselback, also argued that Ewing\u2019s claims should be barred and\/or limited by his failure to mitigate damages.<\/p>\n<p>In Imperial Pacific\u2019s answer and affirmative defenses to Ewing\u2019s lawsuit, Hasselback said his client denies the allegations that the company failed to enforce an adequate anti-money laundering program.<\/p>\n<p>Hasselback also denied, among other allegations, that in late February or early March 2016, Ewing reported to Imperial Pacific management, specifically to Kwong Yiu Ling, that Imperial Pacific had allowed a casino customer to deposit $400,000 with the casino\u2019s cashier without the required anti-money laundering program identification.<\/p>\n<p>Hasselback denied Ewing\u2019s allegations that defendant ignored his report and failed to take any action.<\/p>\n<p>Ewing alleged that Imperial Pacific is engaging in illegal practices.
