{"id":245982,"date":"2017-02-08T06:00:05","date_gmt":"2017-02-07T20:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=245982"},"modified":"2017-02-08T06:00:05","modified_gmt":"2017-02-07T20:00:05","slug":"ex-convict-gets-prison-term-punching-man","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/ex-convict-gets-prison-term-punching-man\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-convict gets prison term for punching man"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An ex-convict who repeatedly punched a man at a store on Saipan last Oct. 25 was slapped with a one-year prison term. <\/p>\n<p>Peterson Joseph Keju, 25, pleaded guilty to assault and battery last week. He also admitted violating his probation.<\/p>\n<p>Keju was sentenced to seven months in prison for assault and battery, and five months of his suspended prison sentence for violating the terms and conditions of his probation.<\/p>\n<p>He was given credit for time served from Nov. 16, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>After completing this prison term, Keju will be placed on supervised probation for three years. He was ordered to pay the victim, Juan Cepeda, $1,148 in restitution for medical bills.<\/p>\n<p>Keju is prohibited from any contact with the victims, Cepeda, Yao Wei Ma, and the L&amp;Q Market.<\/p>\n<p>He is not allowed to possess of consume any alcoholic beverages during his probation. He was required to complete alcohol counseling.<\/p>\n<p>Last Nov. 9, the Office of the Attorney General charged Keju with two counts of assault and battery, two counts of disturbing the peace, and one count of criminal mischief.<\/p>\n<p>While intoxicated, Keju allegedly assaulted Cepeda and Ma at L&amp;Q Market, punchng Cepeda in the face several times.<\/p>\n<p>On Oct. 6, 2015, Keju pleaded guilty to assault and battery. In that case, while intoxicated he punched a man in Garapan on Sept. 2, 2015. He also kicked three parked vehicles.
