Reyes Elementary School, considered the oldest school in the Commonwealth, will be celebrating its 70th anniversary this coming Feb. 17 and is inviting the public to attend.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1947, the William S. Reyes Elementary School would host an event that will commemorate its standing as the first school in the CNMI.<\/p>\n<p>The event would also be done alongside the Family Fun Night of the Parent Teacher Student Association that same day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Family Fun Night [is] an annual carnival-type fundraiser event on Feb. 17, 2017,\u201d said WSRES public relations coordinator Winnifred Cabrera. <\/p>\n<p>It will feature free admission, entertainment, and a raffle with cash prizes and consolation prizes. Raffle tickets sell for $1 apiece.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year, our PTSA is focusing its fundraising efforts to build waiting areas for parents as well as create another drop-off zone on the north wing of the school,\u201d said Cabrera.<\/p>\n<p>Another new feature for the year is the coronation of the WSRES KINGfisher and QUEENfisher Royal Court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents run as candidates by selling the most raffle tickets,\u201d said Cabrera.<\/p>\n<p>According to Cabrera, WSRES is accepting donations of all kinds, even taking up offers for individual performers or group performers.<\/p>\n<p>For information, contact WSRES at 237-3542.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>William S.
