The other four appeared in the Saipan Tribune a few years ago. These sonnets are about how love in its myriad forms can leave us in a quandary or bogged down in a quagmire about its quality. Three of the sonnets are humorous in nature so that we might \u201clive, love, laugh, and be happy.\u201d Enjoy them all.<br \/>\n\u00a0A brief definition for the Latin terms used in them follows: A \u201cquid nunc\u201d is a person who seeks to know all the latest news or gossip, a busybody; \u201cquiescent\u201d means tranquilly at rest; \u201cquid pro quo\u201d is something given or received by someone else. One meaning for \u201cquietus\u201d is removal from activity or death. Happy Valentine\u2019s Day.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>Quantum Love Quantified<\/strong><br \/>\nhow much love is enough can we ever get enough<br \/>\nmeasuring the amount of love is difficult to do<br \/>\nlifelong need mixed with other emotional stuff<br \/>\ndisappointment depression and just feeling blue<br \/>\nlove parceled out to and from giver and receiver<br \/>\nis like making limitations to friendship and kindness<br \/>\nit prevents those involved from being a true believer<br \/>\nwhen love is often simply blessed with blindness<br \/>\nmore and more or sometimes less love is more<br \/>\nlove finds its way around and through us all<br \/>\nlife changes to family and friends love explores<br \/>\nsensible and nonsensical love will rise up and fall<br \/>\nit won\u2019t fall out of fashion or any part of our lives<br \/>\nlove from our innermost being grows and thrives<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>Quid Nunc Love?<\/strong><br \/>\nwhat now love? the busybody asks<br \/>\nall he had to say was a bunch of bunk<br \/>\ntelling tales about each and every drunk<br \/>\nmeanwhile he came out smelling like a skunk<br \/>\na three whole point sinker stinker slam dunk<br \/>\nhe always seemed to exist in a funk<br \/>\nlike an elephant with snot in his trunk<br \/>\nthat couldn\u2019t blow out a big chunk<br \/>\nbut when it finally did it sure stunk<br \/>\nhis recent gossip was of a teenage punk<br \/>\nstealing and driving an old hunk of junk<br \/>\nout on a frozen lake where it soon sunk<br \/>\nhitting the bottom with a cold clank and klunk<br \/>\nnow a marijuana smoking monk is<br \/>\nthe latest from busybody Quid Nunc<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>Love Quiescent<\/strong><br \/>\nwe lie in sweet silence musing in repose<br \/>\nthe window half shut a soft breeze blows through<br \/>\nthe last few rays of sunlight color your hair<br \/>\nas this weekend comes to a too short close<br \/>\ntomorrow back to work we\u2019ll both be driving off<br \/>\nthe taste of love in our mind and mouth<br \/>\na kitty sleeps in an old rocking chair<br \/>\nboth of us hitting dirt roads towards the South<br \/>\na soft woolen blanket wards off the chill<br \/>\nout the window we see the car wheel ruts<br \/>\non the dresser a dead wasp near a pear<br \/>\nwe loll around the cabin or lie still<br \/>\nhardly any breeze now only the rustling sound<br \/>\nof chipmunks storing nuts underground<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>Love Quid Pro Quo \u2013 Shrimp for Giant Prawn<\/strong><br \/>\nthe shrimps donation got appreciation<br \/>\nfrustration was found in its equation<br \/>\nliquid litigation for a saline situation<br \/>\nbrought considerable complication<br \/>\nannunciation from the pink crustacean<br \/>\nwhose aspiration was magnification<br \/>\nbut lacked justification and qualification<br \/>\nthus some nullification of the operation<br \/>\nstill temptation for prawn fornication<br \/>\ngenus exploration and gender glorification<br \/>\nprovided plenty of\u00a0 patient process purification<br \/>\nfollowed by acrobatic aqueous pacification<br \/>\nthus starting with sublimation on its vacation<br \/>\nthe cool crustacean began real relaxation<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>Love\u2019s Quietus<\/strong><br \/>\nthere\u2019s a time when love goes on quietus<br \/>\nwe think we won\u2019t let love operate us<br \/>\na Besame Mucho Caf\u00e9 will blue plate us<br \/>\nwith leftovers and infidelity flatus<br \/>\nthere\u2019s no need to tempt or salivate us<br \/>\nor in any way try to recreate us<br \/>\nthough perhaps it is time to restate us<br \/>\nas transparency begins to liberate us<br \/>\nmatchmakers try their best to mate us<br \/>\nso we can ultimately duplicate us<br \/>\ntry as they might love will exonerate us<br \/>\nas such amorous attempts begin to grate us<br \/>\nAs the World Turns soaps, suds, gyrates us<br \/>\nlove\u2019s quietus will eliminate us<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cQuantum Love Quantified\u201d is a new sonnet written on Feb. 10, 2017.
