{"id":247144,"date":"2017-02-24T06:00:14","date_gmt":"2017-02-23T20:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=247144"},"modified":"2017-02-24T06:00:14","modified_gmt":"2017-02-23T20:00:14","slug":"man-accused-sex-minor-gets-4-months-prison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/man-accused-sex-minor-gets-4-months-prison\/","title":{"rendered":"Man accused of having sex with minor gets 4 months in prison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 20-year-old man accused of having sex with his then 15-year-old girlfriend in Garapan last year pleaded guilty on Wednesday and was slapped with a four-month prison term.<\/p>\n<p>Ashiqur Rahaman, also known as Simon Kosam, pleaded guilty to one count of assault and battery. He was sentenced to one-year in prison, all suspended except for four months. Rahaman was given credit for four months of time served.<\/p>\n<p>The sentence shall be in addition to his sentence in a previous 2015 criminal conviction. In that case, he pleaded guilty to assault and battery.<\/p>\n<p>This means Rahaman shall be released from the Department of Corrections on March 21, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the plea deal, the government dropped the remaining count of assault and battery.<\/p>\n<p>Rahaman was originally charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree.
