{"id":247595,"date":"2017-03-03T06:06:08","date_gmt":"2017-03-02T20:06:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=247595"},"modified":"2017-03-03T06:06:08","modified_gmt":"2017-03-02T20:06:08","slug":"fast-action-sb-20-16-lauded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/fast-action-sb-20-16-lauded\/","title":{"rendered":"Fast action on SB 20-16 lauded"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tinian Mayor Joey Patrick San Nicolas applauded the CNMI Legislature yesterday for its quick action on a Senate bill that clarifies the definition of \u201cport-related operation\u201d to enable an investor to secure a permit for its project.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Bill 20-16 SD1 was authored by all nine members of the Senate. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cClarifying the definition is crucial as it makes it easier for Bridge Investment Group to be granted a Coastal Resources Management permit and thereby proceed with its hotel\/casino\/ferry service project at the Tinian port,\u201d said San Nicolas.<\/p>\n<p>Under SB 20-16 SD1, port related operation includes any lawful activity that is incidental to port services. <\/p>\n<p>Since BIG will be providing ferry services in addition to a port hotel and casino, BIG\u2019s proposed development would be considered a port-related operation.<\/p>\n<p>San Nicolas is particularly pleased with how fast the Senate and House acted on the bill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thank Senate President [Arnold] Palacios and House Speaker [Rafael] Demapan for prioritizing SB 20-16 SD1,\u201d said San Nicolas<br \/>\nSB20-16 SD1 is now before Gov.
