{"id":247912,"date":"2017-03-08T06:06:47","date_gmt":"2017-03-07T20:06:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=247912"},"modified":"2017-03-08T06:06:47","modified_gmt":"2017-03-07T20:06:47","slug":"tinian-dps-struggles-manpower-shortage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/tinian-dps-struggles-manpower-shortage\/","title":{"rendered":"Tinian DPS struggles with manpower shortage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Tinian Department of Public Safety is making do with only 13 police officers for its seven sections. <\/p>\n<p>Tinian DPS director Juan Santos told Saipan Tribune yesterday that they are experiencing a manpower shortage as the Tinian DPS currently has only 13 police officers, down from 17 back in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s only 13 officers for the department\u2019s seven sections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo tell you the truth, we have been struggling with manpower,\u201d he said in a phone interview.<\/p>\n<p>Santos is proud of the officers because some of them have two to three assignments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne officer would be my patrol shift supervisor while at the same time doing the sexual offender registry and juvenile,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Some of those who left the department just wanted to relocate to the U.S. mainland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey didn\u2019t do anything wrong,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Santos disclosed that five police cadets from Tinian will be joining the police academy on Saipan starting this Monday, March 13.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to help me big time,\u201d said Santos.<\/p>\n<p>The five prospective additional officers would give Tinian the momentum to move forward, after the police academy\u2019s graduation before or after this August, he said.<\/p>\n<p>He still intends, however, to keep asking for more officers in the budget. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Tinian Department of Public Safety is making do with only 13 police officers for&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":23,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[900],"tags":[20,8518,215,38],"class_list":["post-247912","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-featured","tag-budget","tag-juan-santos","tag-public-safety","tag-saipan-tribune"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/247912","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/23"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=247912"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/247912\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=247912"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=247912"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=247912"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
