{"id":248109,"date":"2017-03-13T06:06:30","date_gmt":"2017-03-12T20:06:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=248109"},"modified":"2017-03-13T06:06:30","modified_gmt":"2017-03-12T20:06:30","slug":"womens-affairs-hosts-meet-greet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/womens-affairs-hosts-meet-greet\/","title":{"rendered":"Women\u2019s Affairs hosts meet-and-greet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Women came together Wednesday night to celebrate International Women&#8217;s Day 2017 at the Garapan Central Park in a meet-and-greet hosted by Women\u2019s Affairs Office. <\/p>\n<p>First lady Diann Torres headlined the different women who attended. <\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s Affairs Office special assistant Dolores Reyes Drew and outreach coordinator Geraldine Sebaklim organized the event.<\/p>\n<p>The night\u2019s theme was: \u201cThe power of empowered women.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>A young woman, Annie, 14, said, \u201cI wanted to come and support because women are becoming more powerful. Before, women were only at home, now we have women doing men\u2019s jobs.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>When asked why the event was important to her, she said: \u201cHearing the accomplishments of the women here tonight is what I look up to so I can become a powerful woman too in the future.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Torres said it is important for women to take time away from their busy schedules to think about women in general and what they have accomplished. <\/p>\n<p>She believes that women in the community have come so far. \u201cWomen are really stepping up the ladder,\u201d said Torres.
