The Society for Human Resource Management NMI Chapter will have\u00a0Meredith Sayre of the Camacho Calvo Law Group speaking on how to troubleshoot leaves of absences at its March meeting on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. <\/p>\n
A law degree graduate from Gonzaga University School of Law, Sayre is a transactional attorney with a practice emphasis on labor and employment law in a broad range of industries including hotels, travel companies, tour operators, golf courses, retail, restaurants, and financial institutions. She is an adjunct professor in human resources management and managing the employee and the workplace at the University of Guam and is a guest lecturer in various courses. She is also a past president of the SHRM Guam Chapter.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, Sayre will speak on the interplay of the three major employment laws: the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act,) and Workers\u2019 Compensation Insurance. <\/p>\n
It is essential for all supervisors, in addition to the human resourcestaff, to understand the interplay of these laws to assure legal compliance as well as to provide employees with the benefits and protections each law provides.\u00a0 The presentation will provide an overview of each of the three laws, an explanation of the overlap and interplay of these laws, and a scenario which reinforces\u00a0the need to understand how these laws work.<\/p>\n
This lunch meeting will be held at the\u00a0Pacific Islands Club Charley\u2019s on\u00a0Wednesday, March 22, 2017, from\u00a011:30am\u00a0to\u00a01:30pm.<\/p>\n
This presentation is open to the public.\u00a0 Sayre will provide an opportunity for questions.<\/p>\n
