{"id":248767,"date":"2017-03-22T06:07:43","date_gmt":"2017-03-21T20:07:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=248767"},"modified":"2017-03-22T06:07:43","modified_gmt":"2017-03-21T20:07:43","slug":"call-historical-papers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/call-historical-papers\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for historical papers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Marianas Humanities Council, University of Guam, Northern Marianas College, and Guampedia are calling for papers for the 3rd Marianas History Conference. <\/p>\n<p>The conference will be held on Saipan on Sept. 1-3, 2017, at a venue to be announced later.  <\/p>\n<p>A full range of topics associated with the Marianas Archipelago\u2019s history will be addressed at the conference, with a particular focus on the conference\u2019s subtheme \u201cMilestones in Marianas History.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Papers may be submitted under the following general categories: \u2028Ancient Chamorro History; <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Early Colonial (17th \u2013 18th centuries); \u2028Late Colonial (19th\u2013 early 20th centuries); \u2028World War II; <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Recent (post-war); and \u2028Oral history and genealogical research. <\/p>\n<p>The organizers also encourage student presentations.\u2028Paper abstracts with a maximum of 150 words and the presenter\u2019s biography may be submitted online via the following link: tinyurl.com\/3rdMHC.  <\/p>\n<p>The deadline for abstracts is April 28, 2017. Conference presenters will be allotted 20 minutes to present with an additional 10 minutes for questions and discussion.<\/p>\n<p>The conference will feature keynote presentations by Julian Aguon, Dr. Carlos Madrid, and Dr. Laura T. Souder.
