The presentation of scholarships was led by NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez, front center, and NMC faculty and staff.\u00a0(NMC)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Thirteen Northern Marianas College students have been awarded Asian and Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund scholarships totaling $32,500.<\/p>\n<p>The scholarship is a collaboration between the APIASF and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are extremely thankful to APIASF for making these scholarships available for our students,\u201d said NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez. \u201cThey go a long way to ensure that the recipients are provided with the resources they need to reach their educational goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The recipients of the scholarships are Maria Christine Castro, Kathleen Ann Laurio, Lorielyn Monica Lacay, Gemma Noelani Somol, Roman Franklin Tudela, Renee Ann Manibusan, Oliver Lumbad, Dionne Jasmine Deleon Guerrero, Narleen Siech, Rita Lifoifo, Marc Christian Venus, Dominick Jesse Magofna, and Adelpha Lynn Kapileo<\/p>\n<p>Each student received $2,500 that can be used for tuition, fees, housing, transportation, books, and allowable expenses for the spring 2017 semester.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to congratulate all these students on having been selected from\u2026hundreds of applicants,\u201d Fernandez said.<\/p>\n<p>According to APIASF\u2019s website, applicants for the scholarship must be full-time students in a degree-seeking program and be of Asian and\/or Pacific Islander ethnicity.
