{"id":249794,"date":"2017-04-07T06:00:19","date_gmt":"2017-04-06T20:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=249794"},"modified":"2017-04-07T06:00:19","modified_gmt":"2017-04-06T20:00:19","slug":"closing-arguments-ice-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/closing-arguments-ice-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Closing arguments in  \u2018ice\u2019 case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The prosecution and the defense rested their case yesterday in the ongoing jury trial of a businessman accused of possessing 5 grams or more of methamphetamine or \u201cice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After calling seven witnesses, assistant U.S. attorney Garth Backe announced that the U.S. government rests its case against Yang Zou.<\/p>\n<p>Defense counsel Colin Thompson did not call any witness.<\/p>\n<p>The trial will resume today, Friday, at 8:15am, in which the parties are expected to deliver their closing arguments.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V.
