{"id":250343,"date":"2017-04-17T06:06:54","date_gmt":"2017-04-16T20:06:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=250343"},"modified":"2017-04-17T06:06:54","modified_gmt":"2017-04-16T20:06:54","slug":"4-8-magnitude-earthquake-jolts-mariana-islands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/4-8-magnitude-earthquake-jolts-mariana-islands\/","title":{"rendered":"4.8 magnitude earthquake jolts Mariana Islands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Many Saipan residents felt the 4.8 magnitude earthquake that jolted the Mariana Islands last Friday at 3:50pm. <\/p>\n<p>According to the U.S. Geological Service, the earthquake\u2019s epicenter was 28 kilometers north-east of Rota at a depth of 109.4 kilometers.<\/p>\n<p>Based on available data, there was no tsunami threat.<\/p>\n<p>Saipan Tribune learned that there were no reports of injuries or damage to property. <\/p>\n<p>Liza, a resident of Saipan, said she was working on her desk, when she felt the shaking for a brief period. She said she felt dizzy after the temblor.<\/p>\n<p>A resident of Chalan Kanoa on Saipan said the jolt lasted about three seconds, but not strong.<\/p>\n<p>The CK resident noticed the water in their 5-gallon bottle swaying after the little shaking.<\/p>\n<p>A Rota police officer said he did not feel the earthquake and also did not hear about it from anybody.<\/p>\n<p>A hotel employee on Rota said she also did not feel and hear about the earthquake.
