Upon his release, Dongjun Li shall serve one year of supervised release.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona on Tuesday also ordered Li to pay a $200 special assessment fee.<\/p>\n<p>Li&#8217;s sentence was at the recommendation of assistant U.S. attorney Ross Naughton and defense attorney Mark Scoggins.<\/p>\n<p>Manglona remanded Li back into the custody of U.S. Immigration after the hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, Manglona reset Li&#8217;s hearing to Tuesday, Feb. 7, but freed him since he has been in custody for more than six months now, when the maximum recommended sentence is only six months.<\/p>\n<p>A federal jury last October found Li, a Chinese national, guilty of immigration fraud and false statement.<\/p>\n<p>The document fraud was related to Li&#8217;s possession and use of fake parole documents when he tried to check in for a trip to California on July 15, 2011, at the Saipan International Airport using fake papers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ferdie de la Torre Reporter The federal court has sentenced a man who tried&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2507","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2507","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=2507"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2507\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2507"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=2507"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=2507"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
