(CONTRIBUTED PHOTOS)\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>The CNMI won three awards at the annual Marine Diving Fair in Japan on April 7-9, 2017: Teteto Beach in Rota won second place Reader\u2019s Choice Best Beach and Managaha in Saipan won 5th place in the same category, while Saipan, Tinian, and Rota combined won 4th place Reader\u2019s Choice Best Diving Area, Overseas.<\/p>\n<p>Diving opportunities in the Northern Marianas were touted by the Marianas Visitors Authority to over 50,000 attendees at the fair, which is the country\u2019s leading consumer diving show, targeting consumers and trade representatives in Japan and other Asian countries. The MVA hosted an information booth at the event, held at Ikebukuro Sunshine City in Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so pleased that The Marianas has again been chosen by divers at the fair this year as one of their favorite places. This is something we can all take pride in as our community continues to make environmental protection and conservation a priority and an important part of sustaining our tourism economy for the long-term,\u201d said MVA deputy managing director Judy Torres. \u201cThe fair is also a perfect opportunity for the MVA to promote the underwater attractions our islands have to offer, our underwater treasures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A number of divesites are among the \u201cMarianas 30 Treasures\u201d now being promoted internationally by the MVA, including Treasure #1 Grotto, #2 Managaha Island,#8 Obyan Beach, and #22 Rota Hole.<\/p>\n<p>In cooperation with MVA staff, the event was attended by Hitoshi Yamaguichi, president of the Northern Marianas Diving Operations Association. The fair had 50,115 total registered participants, of which 83 percent were divers, while the remainder were resort-lovers and other interested individuals.
