An equipment operator of Tinian Department of Lands and Natural Resources was arrested on Friday morning for allegedly engaging in the sale of methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d on the island. <\/p>\n
Tinian police served an arrest warrant on the 53-year-old Victor San Nicolas Shai at the DLNR office on charges of trafficking and illegal possession of controlled substance.<\/p>\n
At a hearing on Friday late afternoon, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $100,000 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for May 28 at 9am.<\/p>\n
Assistant public defender Nancy Dominski was appointed as counsel for Shai. Assistant attorney general Jonathan Wilberscheid appeared for the government.<\/p>\n
Tinian Police Detective Peter H. Palacios Jr. stated in his report that on Oct. 1, 2016 a confidential informant disclosed that he has been buying \u201cice\u201d from Shai ranging from $10 to $50.<\/p>\n
Palacios said during the \u201ccontrolled buy operation\u201d the confidential informant met with Shai in the parking lot of a poker establishment that night.<\/p>\n
