Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho dismissed with prejudice yesterday one of the cases against a suspected drug dealer.<\/p>\n
Camacho dismissed the case against 37-year-old Francisco R. Demapan after the Office of the Attorney General moved yesterday to drop the illegal possession of a controlled substance charge. <\/p>\n
Dismissed with prejudice means the OAG could no longer re-file the case.<\/p>\n
Assistant attorney general Chester Hinds said the government believes it is in the interest of justice to drop the case.<\/p>\n
Demapan\u2019s bench trial was supposed to start on Wednesday, May 17.<\/p>\n
Demapan allegedly possessed crystal methamphetamine on Saipan last Jan. 10. No other details were provided in court documents. <\/p>\n
Last March 13, police arrested Demapan after he allegedly yielded three small bags containing a crystalline substance during a traffic violator\u2019s stop in Chalan Kanoa. The quantity of the seized \u201cice\u201d was not indicated in the report.<\/p>\n
Police said they also recovered some drug paraphernalia inside Demapan\u2019s car.<\/p>\n
Demapan has a pending illegal possession of a controlled substance case after he allegedly yielded \u201cice\u201d and marijuana on Oct. 3, 2014. <\/p>\n
In July 2010, Demapan was also arrested after police allegedly found in his pockets 2.10 in gross grams of \u201cice.\u201d <\/p>\n
