Fitzgerald, asked the Superior Court to hold Micronesian Telecommunications Corp., owner of IT&E, liable for damages. He demanded a jury trial.

Saipan Tribune contacted IT&E yesterday, but the company has yet to comment about the lawsuit as of press time.

According to Fitzgerald in the complaint, IT&E actively recruited the 62-year-old Compton in 2014 because of his vast experience in the communications industry.

Fitzgerald said that sometime prior to March 5, 2014, Jose Ricardo Delgado, a director and primary stockholder of MTC, offered Compton the post of CEO of the company. That day, Compton accepted the offer.

Fitzgerald said that, on Feb. 17 2017, IT&E reduced Compton’s salary by 20 percent, retroactive to January 2017.

On April 1, 2017, IT&E again allegedly failed to make the guaranteed payment of $100,000 and failed to pay Compton his $250,000 salary.

IT&E allegedly further breached the contract by failing to provide Compton the bonus plan.

Fitzgerald said IT&E informed Compton in April 2017 that it was considering changing his status to that of a part-time employee.
